How to get there?

 How to get there?

In this page you can find the directions you may need during your visit to Málaga. Here you have a huge map showing the city and all the bus lines.
  1. From the airport to:
    • Hotel Maestranza:
      1. Taxi: Give the taxi driver this address: Hotel Mestranza, Avenida Cánovas del Castillo, 1. It is hard to predict the price of the ride, since it heavily depends on traffic conditions, and Málaga airport is in the metropolitan area (hence taximeter fares apply).
      2. Bus: Take bus number 19 at the airport (ticket price = 1.00 €). The bus leaves every half an hour, starting at 7:00 AM till 7:00 PM on weekends. Your stop is the very last one (Pza. General Torrijos). From the bus stop you should be able to see the hotel on your right.
      3. Train: Take the train "CERCANíAS" direction Málaga. You have to buy the ticket in the machines at the station. Your destination is "MÁLAGA-CENTRO" and the price of the ticket is 1.20 € on weekends. The train leaves the airport station every half an hour, starting at 7:00 AM till midnight. Your stop is the very last one. When you leave the train, the exit is on the your right. After the ticket control, take the exit on your left. Go upstairs over the bridge and you will see a touristic information kiosk. From there you can either walk (1,6 Km to your right, following Alameda Principal and Paseo del Parque till the bullring), or take a taxi (it shouldn't be expensive at all) or take bus number 14 (the stop is on your left, the ticket will be 0.95 €, and you have to leave the bus in front of the bullring, at Plaza General Torrijos).
    • Residencia Universitaria:
      1. Taxi: Give the taxi driver this address: Residencia Universitaria Alberto Jiménez Fraud, Plaza José Bergamín, 6. It is hard to predict the price of the ride, since it heavily depends on traffic conditions, and Málaga airport is in the metropolitan area (hence taximeter fares apply). There is an exit of the highway very close to the residence, so a taxi ride should be cheaper than going downtown and may be worthy if more than two persons are travelling.
      2. Bus: Take bus number 19 at the airport (ticket price = 1 €). The bus leaves every half an hour, starting at 7:00 AM till 7:00 PM on weekends. Leave the bus at either Plaza de la Marina (you should see a square with a fountain on your right and UNICAJA bank on your left) or the next one, Ayuntamiento. Cross the avenue and take bus number 14 (ticket price = 0.95 €). Leave this bus at  Plaza José Bergamín: a big roundabout with a geiser fountain (if the bus crosses over the highway you went too far). The residence is a low brick building that the bus will leave on its left after leaving you (look at the map).
Again you can take a taxi (I would say it is as expensive as taking it from the airport) or walk (200 mts approx.) to the left. After passing El Corte Inglés and a roundabout, cross the avenue, and take bus number 14 (ticket price = 0.95 €). Leave the bus at  Plaza José Bergamín: a big roundabout with a geiser fountain, that may not work (if you miss this stop, the bus will cross over the highway arrive to the last stop, so you have to walk 200 mts back). The residence is a low brick building that the bus will leave on its left after leaving you (look at the map).
    • Residencia Campus Confort San Carlos:
      1. Taxi: Give the taxi driver this address: Residencia Universitaria Confort San Carlos, Calle Corregidor Nicolás Isidro, 14.
      2. Bus: You can follow the indications to go to Residencia Universitaria above, and then use this map. Another option is to take bus number 19 at the airport (ticket price = 1 €). The bus leaves every half an hour, starting at 7:00 AM till 7:00 PM on weekends. Leave the bus at Alameda Principal (the next stop after the one in front of El Corte Inglés). Cross the first 3 lines in the avenue (so you are in the central area of the avenue under the tress) and walk to the left till you find the stop of bus number 31 (ticket price = 0.95 €). Take this bus and leave it at Corregidor Nicolás Isidro (C. El Ángel): you are in front of a small hospital (look at the map). The residence is the building on the right.
      3. Train: Again, you can follow the indications to go to Residencia Universitaria above, and then use this map. Another option is to take the train "CERCANíAS" direction Málaga. You have to by the ticket in the machines at the station. Again you can take a taxi (I would say it is as expensive as taking it from the airport) or cross the avenue, and behind El Corte Inglés, cross the street, and take bus number 31 (ticket price = 0.95 €). Leave the bus at Corregidor Nicolás Isidro (C. El Ángel): you are in front of a small hospital (look at the map). The residence is the building on the right.
  2. From Hotel Maestranza to the lecture rooms: Since the organization will provide participants with a bus card valid for 30 trips, we suggest you to use the bus.
    • If you do not like to walk, turn to your right after leaving the hotel and take bus number 14 (ticket price = 0.95 €) at Plaza General Torrijos (this stop is opposite the one you will use in your way back). Leave this bus at either Avenida Andalucía (Jardines de Picasso) or Avenida Andalucía (Puente de las Américas). The first stop is opposite a garden with a huge rubber tree ("ficus elastica") and the second is immediately after going under a bridge. In the same stop you can take bus number 20, that you will leave at the last stop. There you can use this map to find the Facultad de Ciencias.
    • If you do like to walk. There are several options. You can take bus number 14 (ticket price = 0.95 €) at Plaza General Torrijos as in the previous case. Leave this bus at Plaza de Sandro Boticelli (last stop) or Plaza José Bergamín and follow the directions for people walking from the dorms.  Another option is to walk from the hotel along Paseo del Parque and Prolongación de la Alameda till you find the very first stop of bus number 20. Take the bus and leave it at the last stop. There you can use this map to find the Facultad de Ciencias.

  3. From both residencias to the lecture rooms: Both dorms are really close each other (300 mts) as you can see in this map. In any case, you will have to walk a little bit (300 mts in the worst case):
    • If you do not like to walk, you first have to have to walk to Residencia Campus Confort San Carlos, and take bus numer 31 (the stop opposite to the residence).  After five stops, leave the bus  at Avenida Ortega y Gasset (Barriada El Carmen). Cross the avenue and take bus number 22, that you will leave at the last stop. There you can use this map to find the Facultad de Ciencias.
    • If you do like to walk. There are several options. The lazy option is to walk downhill along Calle Almogía (so you leave Plaza José Bergamín back). After going under a bridge it becomes Calle Corregidor Francisco Molina, and later one leaving a parking lot on your left, you will reach Avenida Ortega y Gasset where you can take bus number 22, that you will leave at the last stop. There you can use this map to find the Facultad de Ciencias. Another option is to walk about 2 kms all the way to the faculty, by following Avenida Jorge Luis Borges (shown in the map) leaving Plaza José Bergamín back. After crossing over the highway you will reach Plaza de Sandro Boticelli (a roundabout  with colorful columns and a fountain). Turn to the left to Calle Mesonero Romanos and then right to Bulevar the Louis Pasteur. This avenue leads to the campus as you can chek in this map of the campus.
